New places of work - new forms of training? There is a growing recognition of the role that the creativity and engagement with the arts can play in the fulfilment, social well-being and health of any community. And a growing realisation of the skills that the artist brings to the table.

Cultural and economic policies across Europe may differ, but employment trends in the arts are becoming increasingly similar. Artists are increasingly working across disciplines, across sectors, across practice and within new collaborative frameworks. The 21st century artist is as likely to place their work in an Education, Regeneration, Social Enterprise, Health, Community And Youth, Corporate Sector, Prison & Probation setting as in a gallery, a theatre or a concert hall. But are these new flexible work patterns and this rich social capital being fully exploited in our economic, educational or cultural policies?
